Fun day today,
Turbo and I inspected a small Drs. Office and found a bed bug that had fallen off a patient. The staff was very happy.
Kevin and Dave, Sarge and Scamp inspected 3 apartments dogs did great.
Turbo and I inspected a new apartment and were able to clear it for the tenants.
Inspected a home that has has bed bugs for 3 years. They have been heated twice and sprayed numerous times by others. It will be a great challenge but will be able to help these folks out.
All 3 of us went and inspected a home that had been heated twice unsuccessfully. All 3 dogs altered on the couch and as always showed the people the bugs the dogs alerted on.
My advice when searching for a company to treat bed bugs.
Experience is a must.
Find reviews.
Ask for references.
Bed Bug treatments can be costly if not treated by experienced and reputable compaines.

We discovered we had a bed bug problem. Mike Posey was contacted for a house inspection. Mike was friendly and understanding of the problem. Mike showed us where the bed bugs were located and explained how to get rid of them. Mike scheduled two appointments to rid the bed bug problem. Mike was very professional and had high integrity. We seen no activity after the first visit, same with the second visit. To insure the activity is gone, mike scheduled a follow up using one of his dogs. Again mike is vey professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend his service to anyone.

Today we were able to show Kevin that we appreciate what he does for M2. He has been personally invested in the company and we were finally able to invest in him with a much needed new company car. Thanks Kevin!!

A great week. The dogs were on top of there game this week. There are a lot fewer bed bugs in the world.
I was asked today how many bed bugs i have killed in my pest control career. I replied not enough.

I am always looking a bed bug articles and read comments from people on public forums. I see the same thing all the time. Someone writes that chemicals do not work. This comment gets read and puts a panic out that Chemicals do not work. This is not a true comment. Technically they are correct. Hardware store chemicals do not work. Brands mystic, hot shot, raid, and bed bug bombs. These will scatter bugs. They carry a repellent and the active ingredient that kills bed bugs is not strong enough. You would have to use about 10 gallons to have any type of effect. I get asked about rubbing alcohol. I will never recommend anything that catches fire very fast. Again not an effective way of killing bed bugs. DE although all professioals use some sort of dust type product its still not a stand alone kill all your bed bugs. I see people spread this all over there house. It gets airbourne and you breathe it in. Not a good idea.
Chemicals do work. They are not offered to the general public. Why?? The general public would overuse for a quick fix. The bed bugs would become immune. Bed Bug researchers have developed several great chemicals to kill bed bugs and leave residuals behind to keep killing bed bugs for several weeks. As trying as bed bugs are patience is a must. Let the chemicals work, if everyone does their part we win. So my advice call a professioal company with a proven track record. M2 Bed Bugs has this and we use every tool to win the war. Dogs to find where they are. Chemicals that work or heat if you have a massive infestation. Over 10 years experience.

We had a really good inspection day. All 3 Scamp, Sarge and Turbo worked hard today. We shot a couple videos of Scamp and Sarge. On YouTube Turbo The Bed Bug Beagle.

Its a lot of fun running the dogs but its a lot of pressure too. We take them in a house or business and people are expecting the dog to do something right away. As soon as you feel the pressure it goes right down the leash. These Bugger dogs are very unique. They have a keen sense of feeling how we are feeling. If we are nervous they tend to be. Same as if we are having fun they are. They feel tension in a home from the homeowners if they are not sure they have bed bugs or not.
Dogs noses are millions of times better than humans. So the spilled coffee on the floor although you cant smell it they can. Same as if someone sprays chemicals our dogs pick that up even though we can't smell it and they do not like it. In my opinion bed bug dogs use there noses more than a pet which may makes them more sensitive to everything. Plus they are taught to search so thats what they do. When we have loads of crumbs or food left out the dogs pick that up very quick and makes for a difficult inspection.

We have a lot to read of what the dogs are doing. When they are on bed bugs they have a change of behavior which is a cue the presense of bed bugs is there. The dogs will do alot of sniffing because everything has a smell. The dogs sniff 160 times in 60 seconds. The dogs are smelling for one smell. The smell of bed bugs or bed bug eggs. So a clean home is the nest scenario for the inspection to be successful either way. If bed bugs are where the dogs can catch scent they will alert.

We are heating a trailor that another company has heated twice. Just makes me wonder was it that bad of an infestation or did the company not heat it hot enough for long enough. It always makes me very aware of why their was a failure. So Dave and I are moving fans around checking temps every 15 to 20 minutes. Its a long hot day but taking care of some folks who have had a rough way to go. They paid money and the bugs were still there and had to save money to pay again. We will get it right and if any problems we will take care of it

We started at an apartment that was treated for bed bugs. Our client was treated twice and ended up throwing his couch out do to being told he was bed bug free and having a hatch happen the very next day. So after waiting the 30 days we were able to come in with our dogs. First up was Dave and Scamp. Scamp searched the 2 bed rooms so far so good no alerts then they went by a bookcase that had a camera bag and loose papers . Scamp ran his nose by the bag and sat. So we have bed bug odor. So he was rewarded for his find. I like to run all the dogs so i went and got Turbo. He went all around the apartment and alerted in the same place. So now we have 2 for 2 we have bed bug odor. So Kevin and Sarge came in and Sarge alerted in the same area. We now know bed bug odor is there. Now its time to find the evidence to show our client. As we looked at the camera bed bug eggs were present in it. Our client then said " I would rather throw the thing out". So we helped take it to the dumpster and when we set it out we showed our client the bugs and eggs that were still on the book shelf. As we were told the company that treated it didnt look at what was on the bookshelf. It was in a close proximity of the infestation on the couch so you have to go the extra step and look around. Females run after the feed because the males are attacking her to mate. After a while she starts getting injured. The bookshelf was 2 feet from the infested couch, you always, always have to look. Now at M2 we have our Bugger dogs to do this for us. But the years we have hunted bed bugs this is a typical place to look. Glad we could help this person out today. Its what keeps us going. Helping people out of bad situations.

This was a fun week. We started Monday with 3 Nesdca certified dogs. This was a first for M2 Bed Bugs. Our dog teams worked hard to prepare for the certification test. We had our dogs working at a level we have never had before. Proud of Dave and Kevin and proud of Turbo, Sarge and Scamp

If you have bedbugs, or even think you have bedbugs, it's overwhelming, a sock to the gut. Kind of like a diagnosis that your home has a type of cancer. I initially contacted another company to come out for assessment. Not a good, or inexpensive, experience. M2, from the first phone conversation with Stephanie on, gave me a sense that they would take care of things.
Mike and Kevin were empathetic, friendly, reassuring, professional, thorough, and competent. Quite a difference between what I experienced with the first company.
As it turned out, we were clean.
Anyone can call on this company with full confidence.

July has been a great month for M2 Bed Bugs. Started off the month really fast. We hosted a Nesdca Certification Test with Milliterriers,Inc. The guys worked hard to be able to pass all 3 dogs. It was a challenge because all 3 dogs work different, alert different. In the end we came out having 9 certified teams. What a Great feeling!!! Very proud of the guys and the dogs. To think 4 years ago it was Turbo and I, hoping to get work. Now we have 3 dogs working everyday.
We have had a lot of fun working hard and making our service better and better. Thank you to all who call us and the kind words of how we do business

4 years ago today I was in Kansas to purchase a bed bug detection dog. I was excited and nervous at the same time. I knew about the bugger dogs but wasnt sure the details of how they worked. Probably just like everyone else. They walk in a room and go right to the bugs. Easy. Right.... Yes, it was true they will find bed bugs. The hard part was all the other things that put off odor. Cats, dogs, cleaning chemicals, crumbs, soda pop spills everything that I wasnt prepared for. See the the dogs are trained in very sterile environments. The dogs are familer with the surroundings they are trained in. So when they get out in the real world they become dogs again and want to smell where the cat had been and bury there head to get the m&m in the couch, or freak out on the ceiling fan, because that is not in the training facility. So the task began to socialize Turbo to everything that was scary to him or that frightened him. I must have quit a hundred times, hahaha. Loss of sleep of what did I do I wasted my money to I am a terrible dog handler. Very Very frustrating. To the point that wasnt helping Turbo to get through it all he was picking up my frustration.
I kept calling the trainer for help and they kept telling keep working him. So one that believes nothing is easy, and I am not a quitter, I kept working him and he did well finding hides. So I knew he had the skills and could do it, I just need to ease up and let Turbo be Turbo and hopefully one day find his stride.
Now 4 years later Turbo has all the confidence in the world and is an outstanding Bugger dog. He loves his job and if he isnt in the car by a certain time to go to work hes letting me know his displeasure with the Beagle Bark. At times the worse thing I can do is get in his way and tell him where to sniff.
In this 4 years I have added 2 more dogs and 2 more handlers to the crew.
Sarge is our min pin who is completely different than Turbo. He is not afraid of anything and wants to hunt bed bugs 24 hours a day. He doesnt want anything to do with being petted by strangers and is more than happy doing his job finding bed bugs, getting his reward and going to the next inspection. Kevin is a very good handler and reads the cues Sarge gives him that bed bugs are present. They are a very good team.
Scamp is our Fox/Rat Terrier mix who we have had for a year or so. He hunts very effortless, slow in is approach and very methodical. If he wasnt a bugger dog he would be an awesome pet. I purchased Scamp from a company that didnt want to do bed bug detection work anymore. I had seen Scamp at a certification test the year before. So when he came up for sale I jumped at the oppurtunity. It took a couple months to get him up and running and to find a handler he would mesh with. Dave was the perfect choice. Dave and Scamp work very well together. Dave was new to handling and Scamp is not a high powered dog. Its the perfect match. Dave and Scamp passed the Nesdca Certification test the first time the ran in it. I have to say I prepared him on what not to do, that caused me to fail the first time. Hahaha. They are a very good team.
So anyone reading this and thinking " I'll buy a dog and get rich" think again. I encourage anyone who wants to buy a dog and get into bed bug detection work. Its fun, rewarding, and very unique. The flip side to it is getting consistent work and its an everyday commitment. You have to be dedicated to your team. You have to learn bed bugs. Its not as easy as it looks. Its a long road with peaks and valleys.
Time flies when your'e having fun. Thank you Turbo, Sarge and Scamp, Kevin and Dave for everything, and to Mike Synk for helping me turn my dream of an awesome company come true.

I also forgot to mention one very important person to success of M2 Bed Bugs and Turbo.
My awesome wife Stephanie. She has been a trooper through the whole process of this. Hearing me frustrated at times to sitting around the dinner table talking about bed bugs and thinking " Oh Boy!! Another dog story" hahaha. She is great with customer service and getting our appointmnets straight, getting everyone organized. I couldnt ask for any better than working with my wife and knowing everything will be taken care of. She is the best and anyone who has delt with her knows she cares and has a lot of compassion for anyone dealing with bed bugs. Love ya Stepahnie youre the best.

Happy New Year!!!

We are already making life diffcult for bed bugs in 2018. The dogs had a very good holiday season had some good treats and got some rest.
We have been working on a new prep for chemical treatments. The old way of doing things and non-k9 companies have you bag up all your clothes in dressers and closets and pile the mounds of clothes in your bed room. Its a black bag Mecca. What this has caused is clutter where we cant move around and interrupts the k9 inspection because of all the stuff. Plus you may bag bugs up and possible infest a room that didnt have anything. The old way wash and dry clothes " All Of Them" that takes weeks and stress on electric and water bills. Thats because non-k9 companies dont have an idea where All the bugs are. Its their only defense
M2 Bed Bugs has found the "Old Way" of preparing to be not only exhusting for our customers but a pain when we go in and inspect or treat. If a few things need moved we will help.
Ive seen people who take the bedding off stuff it in a closet and guess what?? They put bed bugs in the closet because the bedding had bed bugs on it. When you pack up you are disturbing the bugs. If undisturbed bed bugs are more than happy to sit still and wait.
Trends are changing people and we are on the front end of it.

What a Great couple of weeks. I had learned of a product that was in development. Couldnt wait to get my hands on it. So went to my supplier to get the usual things and there it was.
I am one of the first companies in Central Ohio to buy it and prepare to use it. From all I have read about it, if it works the way they say it will Bed Bugs will not stand a chance. We have done 3 treatments and looking forward to the results.
We already use the best chemical they make and it works fantastic. I believe the new chemical out is even better.
So M2 Bed Bugs will have Dogs, Knowledge and the best treatment solutions. Its a win, win for everyone.
